Included subscription usage and API billing differ.
When Claude Code is used through a Pro or Max subscription, it shares the included allowance with Claude. Opening another interface does not create a separate included budget. Anthropic’s Claude Code documentation also distinguishes API-based metering: how you signed in determines which usage and billing rules apply.
Check the account and sign-in method shown in your own Claude Code session before acting on a limit message. LimitSlate does not inspect authentication or billing and cannot decide which path a session is using.
Find the relevant reset time.
Use /status in Claude Code to monitor your remaining allocation, and review your Claude Usage settings for the windows shown for your plan. For included Pro and Max usage, track the five-hour session and weekly limit separately. The Claude reset guide explains how to enter those two readings.
Context capacity is a different question.
Anthropic distinguishes a conversation’s context from usage metering. A message about context capacity is not automatically evidence that the weekly limit is exhausted. Read the exact message and the account’s Usage screen before setting a reset countdown.
This timer is useful only when you have an actual future reset time to copy. It cannot repair authentication, change billing, increase context capacity or check whether a request will succeed.
Plan across a work session.
Write down the remaining percentage before and after a typical session, using the same allowance window for both values. The manual planner calculates the difference in percentage points and compares it with the even daily allocation from your saved clock.
The comparison only describes what happened. Task complexity, model choice and the work already done can change future consumption. Update the account reading after substantial work; do not treat the number of estimated similar sessions as a service guarantee.
If a timer has ended but access is still limited.
Check the current Usage screen and identify which limit the message names. Another window can still be exhausted. Review official service status separately from account allowance. This guide does not suggest restarting anything to get exhausted usage back.
